Abstract: Controlling an electrostatic acoustic device. Displacement of a membrane in the electrostatic acoustic device is monitored by producing an audio output signal responsive to time-dependent displacement of the membrane. An input audio voltage is combined with a first portion of the audio output signal to produce a first error signal as negative feedback. The first error signal is input to a control circuit and a control signal is output from the control circuit. The control circuit includes a filter of order N3. The control circuit is configured to increase a bandwidth for noise cancellation. Ambient noise may contribute to displacement of the membrane and displacement of the membrane due to the ambient noise may be canceled at least in part over the bandwidth.
