Abstract: A neuromorphic edge processor-based intrusion detection system (100) for critical infrastructure protection is disclosed. The system includes an industrial protocol interface module (110), a protocol-aware event encoder (120), a neuromorphic spiking neural core (130), a synaptic consolidation engine (140), a deterministic latency controller (150), a hardware root-of-trust module (160), and an adaptive threshold controller (170). Industrial protocol features are converted into temporal spike trains processed by leaky integrate- and-fire neurons. An anomaly risk index is computed based on membrane activation and temporal deviation metrics under bounded inference latency. Incremental learning is performed using weight consolidation to prevent catastrophic forgetting. Secure boot validation ensures model integrity. The system provides deterministic, low-power, real-time intrusion detection suitable for deployment in critical infrastructure edge environments.
