Abstract: The present invention discloses a non-invasive mechatronic retrofit system enabling autonomous area scanning of any commercially available drone without hardware or firmware modification. The system comprises a web-based area definition platform for polygon-based area input, rectangular boundary normalisation, scan dimension computation, and unique token generation; and a ground-based mechatronic driver unit housing an ESP32 microcontroller with three servo motors coupled via flexible thread members to the drone remote controller joysticks. A boustrophedon scan path algorithm actuates the servo motors sequentially, with each second of actuation corresponding to one metre of drone travel, to systematically traverse the defined rectangular area in a row-by-row pattern. An integrated AI detection pipeline employing deep learning object detection and multi-object tracking processes aerial scan footage to identify objects of interest. A GPS-independent geo- mapping module computes the real-world coordinates of detected objects from deterministic scan path timing, and renders interactive navigable markers on the web platform. Applications include search and rescue, agricultural surveillance, border monitoring, and wildlife tracking using standard commercially available drones
