MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050555 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on April 21, 2026, for Novel Bioactive Caries Detecting Dye Solution Coated Matrix Band.

Inventors include Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan; Dr. Parvathi B; and Dr. Killi Jyotsna Slesha Sudharsan.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT In order to simultaneously isolate cavities and selectively identify infected dentin during restorative treatments, the current invention presents a unique bioactive caries-detecting dye solution-coated dental matrix band. A biocompatible, eosin-based caries-detecting dye that has been fixed using a polymer carrier is applied to the inner and outer surfaces of the matrix band, which is shaped like a C-shaped sectional band. The dye preserves sound and remineralizable tooth structure while selectively staining diseased dentin upon touch. The innovation promotes minimally invasive dental procedures, decreases chairside time, increases diagnostic precision, and does away with the necessity for separate dye application
