MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641118788 A) filed by Dumala Naresh; Manikanta Murahari; E. Tejaswi; and Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation on October 02, 2026, for Novel Heteroaryl-Linked Meldrum'S Acid–1,2,3-Triazole Molecular Hybrid Derivatives Useful As Dpp-4 Inhibitors.
Inventors include E. Tejaswi; Manikanta Murahari; and Dumala Naresh.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel heteroaryl-linked Meldrum's acid–1,2,3-triazole molecular hybrid compounds represented by Formula (I), pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same, processes for their preparation, and their use as dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-4) inhibitors for the prevention, management, or treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The disclosed compounds were designed by integrating Meldrum's acid and 1,2,3-triazole pharmacophores through heteroaryl linkers to generate structurally diverse molecular hybrids. The compounds were synthesized using multistep synthetic methodologies involving heteroaryl intermediate formation, copper(I)-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), and subsequent incorporation of the Meldrum's acid pharmacophore. The synthesized compounds were characterized by UV–Visible spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The synthesized molecular hybrid compounds exhibited inhibitory activity against DPP-4 in in vitro enzymatic assays, demonstrating their potential as lead compounds for the development of pharmaceutical agents for the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
