Abstract: Abstract Novel Hybrid Paver Block System for Optimized Stormwater Infiltration and Structural Strength The present invention relates to a novel hybrid paver block system designed to optimize both stormwater infiltration and structural strength in pavement systems. The system comprises a base paver block made of plain cement concrete (PCC) with varying thickness and grade, integrated with pervious concrete filler material. The filler material, shaped in various configurations such as square, circular, hexagonal, or triangular, enhances water infiltration due to its porous nature. Experimental testing demonstrated that the hybrid paver blocks significantly improve water infiltration while maintaining high load-bearing capacity. In particular, circular fillers showed the highest infiltration rates, far outperforming traditional joint configurations. The system's design has been fine-tuned using regression modeling and Taguchi design of experiments (DOE), identifying the most effective parameters for balancing performance. The hybrid design ensures efficient stormwater management by significantly increasing the infiltration rate compared to conventional systems, while maintaining superior load-bearing capacity.
