Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparation of dual functional materials (DFMs) that exhibit both catalytic activity and CO2 sorption capacity, specifically designed for blue H2 production via sorption-enhanced steam methane reforming. Process for preparation of dual functional materials (DFMs) consisting the CO2 sorbent, calcium oxide (CaO) derived from biowaste resources, including snail shells, seashells, or eggshells, while nickel (Ni), derived from nickel nitrate hexahydrate, serves as the catalyst. The dual functional materials (DFMs) are prepared by combining the catalyst and sorbent through various methods, including wet mixing (WM), wet impregnation (WI), and the sol-gel (SG) method. Comparative studies demonstrated that the combined sorbent-catalyst composition (CSCC) synthesized through WI exhibits superior performance in terms of both CH4 conversion and H2 purity compared to those derived through WM and SG methods.
