MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611071463 A) filed by Panjab University; and Dr. Jyoti Agarwal on June 09, 2026, for Novel Sonochemically Synthesized Cyclodextrin–amino Acid Based Inclusion Complexes, Process For Preparation Thereof, And Applications Thereof.
Inventor includes Dr. Jyoti Agarwal.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to supramolecular chemistry and pharmaceutical/material compositions, and particularly to a sonochemical process for preparing cyclodextrin– amino acid inclusion complexes. A cyclodextrin host CD having a hydrophobic internal cavity and hydrophilic external surface is separately dissolved or dispersed with an amino acid or amino-acid derivative guest bearing substituents R1, R2 and R3, combined in a solvent medium, preferably water–ethanol, and subjected to ultrasonication to form a precursor mixture that assembles into an inclusion complex through hydrophobic, hydrogen-bonding, van der Waals and electrostatic interactions. At least a portion of the R1-bearing side-chain region is accommodated within the cavity of CD, with remaining guest portions outside or adjacent a rim region, and the complex is recovered as a solid supramolecular phase distinct from free host, free guest and physical mixtures, .including IC-5, IC-6, IC-8 and IC-9, useful in host–guest systems, molecular recognition, encapsulation, delivery, functional material, and catalytic applications, including activation of chalcones and related electrophilic substrates.
