Abstract: ABSTRACT Periodontal regeneration becomes a necessity when the destruction due to periodontitis leads to alveolar defects that affect the periodontium. The regenerative materials currently in use are procured from either the patient, the animal or manufactured synthetically. An ideal grafting material should promote effective ---·-bone regeneration while being sustainable,--associated with minimal patient morbidity, and eliciting only minimal host immune responses. One of the least explored agents in regenerative periodontics is naturally derived plant-based substitutes that are capable of promoting tissue regeneration while exhibiting minimal adverse effects, eliminating donor-site morbidity, and offering· true sustainability, and represent a promising alternative to conventional grafting materials. However, their clinical translation is often limited by poor physicochemical stability, rapid degradation, and low aqueous solubility. Incorporation of these bioactive compounds into a hydrogel carrier effectively overcomes these limitations by improving stability, enabling controlled and sustained release, and enhancing their local bioavailability at the target site. The product containing Cissus - quadrangularis extract was combined with a thermosensitive Pluronic F127 hydrogel matrix to develop the hydrogel. The innovation of the material is that it is a smart thermosensitive hydrogel including a novel combination of Cissus quadrangularis and Pluronic F127.
