Abstract: NUTRACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS FOR PREVENTION AND AMELIORATION OF INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE (IBD) The present invention relates to nutraceutical formulations for the prevention and dietary management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including conditions such as colitis and ulcerative colitis. The formulations comprise fructooligosaccharide (FOS), an amino acid– organic acid blend containing arginine, glycine, and citric acid (UT 18), and enhancer protein(EP), optionally in combination, in a physiologically acceptable carrier. The compositions are intended for oral administration to support gastrointestinal health, maintain normal intestinal barrier function, and promote a balanced gut microbiota. Preclinical evaluation in DSSchallenged animal models demonstrated improved gut health parameters, maintenance of body weight, reduced disease activity scores, and preservation of colon morphology. These synergistic combinations of bioactive dietary ingredients are non-toxic, derived from natural sources, and suitable for incorporation into functional foods, dietary supplements, or nutraceutical beverages. The invention provides a safe, effective, and sustainable approach for promoting digestive wellbeing and reducing the risk or severity of colitis, IBD, IBS, gastritis and other intestinal discomfort through regular dietary inclusion.
