Abstract: The present invention relates to an offline edge-based soil fertility assessment apparatus (104) and method (200) for generating crop and fertilizer recommendations without Internet connectivity. The apparatus (104) comprises a microcontroller (110) coupled to soil moisture, pH, electrical conductivity, temperature-humidity, and GPS sensors (112A–112D, 114), a memory (116) storing a rule-based recommendation matrix, a display (120), and a LoRa transceiver (122). The microcontroller (110) acquires soil parameters, estimates nutrient values, generates crop and fertilizer recommendations locally, and produces a QR code (118A) for immediate offline retrieval. The same information is transmitted through a LoRa communication link (124) to a Raspberry Pi-based village hub (106) for geo-tagged storage and historical analysis, thereby eliminating dependence on cloud computing and laboratory infrastructure while enabling localized agricultural advisory services.
