MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641090432 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on July 24, 2026, for Ophthalmic Image Analysis System.
Inventors include S, Akshay; Pattakka, Kavya Bijith; Sankaranarayanan, Swarnalatha; and Venkatachalam, Sneha.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and a method (500) of ophthalmic image analysis. The system (100) obtains one or more retinal fundus images from one or more population-specific retinal image repositories (104) and performs normalization and spatial standardization to produce consistent image representations before extracting deep feature representations using a pretrained neural network. The system (100) includes a processor (102-2) that refines the extracted features through dimensionality reduction to generate standardized compact feature representations and identifies population-specific feature distributions by clustering the compact features. The processor (102-2) quantifies domain shift by evaluating spatial separation and clustering quality, trains a baseline diabetic retinopathy detection model using the source population, evaluates cross-population diagnostic performance using the target population, and calculates a baseline performance degradation score that indicates model generalization across heterogeneous population datasets.
