Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to methods and systems for efficient broadcast and user equipment (UE) measurement configuration in wireless communication networks. It addresses scenarios where UEs transition into idle or inactive states, emphasizing 10 optimized signaling and measurement processes. The system includes a network node capable of broadcasting a cell common measurement configuration and transmitting UEspecific measurement configurations via signaling messages prior to or during the transition to idle/inactive modes 5. The user equipment as claimed in claim 4, wherein the read broadcast information comprises system information blocks (SIBs) which include one or more of: SIB2, SIB3, SIB4, and SIB5. 5 6. The user equipment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the UE specific measurement configuration is configured based on the user equipment’s capabilities, including one or more of: supported frequency bands; and 10 power consumption capability. 7. The user equipment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the user equipment is caused to report measurement results to the network node when transitioning to RRC_CONNECTED, based on the received configuration. 15 8. The user equipment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the user equipment (120) is caused to perform one or a combination of: transmit, to the network node, a registration request that includes user equipment’s specific capabilities and supported features; 20 determine a common measurement configuration for cell reselection via a system information block 1 (SIB1) or a lightweight system information block (SIBx) after entering a second cell. 9. The user equipment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the UE specific measurement 25 configuration includes a prioritization indicator, that causes the user equipment to: prioritize the received configuration over broadcast configurations; and skip reading broadcast configurations when applicable. 10. The user equipment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the user equipment provides 30 its preference to the network node as assistance information the preference including one or more of a) a preferred set of carriers to be measured during idle or inactive mode; b) for mobility – related operations , such as cell reselection or enhanced early measurement reporting (eEMR). . 11. A network node for wireless communication, comprises: 5 at least one processor; and at least one memory storing instructions thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the network node to: transmit, to a user equipment (UE), upon or before, the user equipment entering an idle or inactive mode, a signaling message comprising a user equipment (UE) specific 10 measurement configuration that includes one or more carriers to be measured in an idle or inactive mode; and broadcast, in its cell, a cell common measurement configuration. 12. The network node as claimed in claim 11, wherein the measurement 15 configuration is transmitted as part of RRCRelease or RRCRelease with suspend configuration (suspendConfig). 13. The network node as claimed in claim 11, wherein the network node is caused to: receive a registration request from a user equipment (UE), the registration request 20 including the UE’s capabilities, one or more of, supported frequency bands; and power consumption capability. 14. The network node as claimed in claim 11, wherein the cell common measurement configuration includes a minimal configuration for cell reselection that is 25 transmitted via system information block 1 (SIB1) or a lightweight system information block (SIBx) for user equipment entering the cell after cell reselection. 15. The network node as claimed in claim 11, wherein the measurement configuration is optimized based on one or more of: 30 recent measurement reports from UE when it was in RRC_CONNECTED; assistance information received from the user equipment. 16. The network node as claimed in 11, wherein the network node is caused to transmit updates to the measurement configuration as response to tracking area update or RAN notification area update or other signaling messages received from the UE. 5 17. A method for wireless communication, the method performed by a user equipment, the method comprising: receiving, upon or before entering an idle or inactive mode, from a network node in a first cell, a signaling message comprising a user equipment (UE) measurement 10 configuration that includes one or more carriers to be measured in an idle or inactive mode; and performing, measurements on the one or more carriers in the idle or inactive mode, according to the UE specific measurement configuration. 15 18. A method in a wireless communication, the method performed by a network node, the method comprising: transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), upon or before the user equipment entering an idle or inactive mode, a signaling message comprising a user equipment (UE) specific measurement configuration that includes one or more carriers to be measured in an idle 20 or inactive mode; and broadcasting, in its cell, a cell common measurement configuration.
