MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611116377 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 29, 2026, for Opto-Acoustic Pill Authentication System Using Non Destructive Spectral Fingerprinting For Counterfeit Drug Prevention.
Inventor includes Siddharth Arora.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a non-destructive opto-acoustic authentication module 5 designed to identify counterfeit pharmaceutical pills through dual-modal spectral analysis. The device incorporates an optical subsystem for multi-wavelength illumination and spectral capture, and an acoustic subsystem that applies controlled excitation to measure resonance and transmission characteristics. A pill positioned within a shielded measurement chamber undergoes simultaneous optical and acoustic scanning. The resulting 10 signals are preprocessed, converted into feature vectors, and fused into a multidimensional authenticity signature. An embedded machine-learning engine classifies the pill as authentic, suspect, or unknown based on comparison with a secure spectral fingerprint database stored locally or synchronised via optional cloud connectivity. The system operates in real time, requires no chemical reagents, and preserves the pill’s integrity. The 15 invention offers a portable, accurate, and robust method for preventing counterfeit drug circulation across pharmacies, distribution networks, and consumer environments.
