Abstract: The invention describes a water-soluble, edible packaging solution (100) for infusible beverages and a process (200) for its preparation, wherein the solution is stable at room temperature, has no organoleptic properties, and provides a high-tensile, food-grade biopolymer film that meets global sustainability needs. The packaging solution (100) is a synergistic mixture of rice starch (102), tapioca starch (103), and a food-grade plasticiser (104), resulting in a strong, flexible, and fast-dissolving film (101). The packaging solution is fully dissolvable in hot water without leaving any residue and does not impact the taste, aroma, colour, or texture of the beverage. The edible film (101) has adequate mechanical properties to resist automated industrial packaging and is compatible with existing form-fill-seal packaging machinery. The invention presents a waste-free and eco-friendly solution to the existing tea bags and other infusion packaging solutions, effectively eliminating solid waste post-consumption with no compromise on performance.
