Abstract: ABSTRACT PALATAL OBTURATOR PROSTHESIS WITH A BONDED SILICONE RETENTION ASSEMBLY An obturator prosthesis for closure of a palatal defect (90) is disclosed, providing tooth-independent, clasp-free retention. A rigid or semi-rigid obturator body (10) seals the defect. A one-piece silicone retention assembly, comprising a sleeve (30) secured to the body's periphery and a flexible retention arm (20) formed of biocompatible silicone integrally continuous with the sleeve, engages an anatomical undercut independent of natural dentition. The assembly, of Shore A hardness 10-30, presents a smooth outer surface (31) and an inner tissue-contacting surface (32) bearing non-slip micro-ridges (40) of height 0.1-0.6 mm and pitch 0.5-1.2 mm, engaging the undercut without abrading tissue. The sleeve (30) is secured to the body (10) by locking grooves (50) combined with an adhesive primer layer (60), resisting delamination while permitting independent fabrication, and in certain embodiments replacement, of the assembly. The arm deflects elastically during insertion/removal and returns resiliently once seated. The prosthesis suits pediatric, growing and edentulous patients. Fig. 1
