MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641078371 A) filed by Psg Institute Of Technology And Applied Research on June 25, 2026, for Parabolic Solar Trough Collector With Actuator-Based Tracking System.

Inventors include Dr. Prem Kumar Thiyagarajan; Vikrant Rajasekar; Aadithiyaa Thirumakkulam; and Sri Divahar Venkatesh Babu.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: This work presents a compact, low cost parabolic trough solar collector (15) designed for 10 domestic and experimental applications.The system features a lightweight plywood top frame(3) mounted on a steel support structure, paired with a parabolic aluminium reflector(9). A linear actuator(l) and side hinge mechanism tilt the platform between 30° and 90°, enabling continuous sun tracking over the course of the day. At the focal line, a CuO coated receiver pipe( 14) absorbs concentrated solar radiation more effectively than a 15 conventional bare metal tube. A Raspberry Pi microcontroller and an MPU6050 sensor form a closed loop control system that adjusts the actuator in real time to maintain precise alignment with the sun.
