Abstract: Passive Vortex–Venturi Based Active Groundwater Recharge and Flood Mitigation System Without External Energy This invention describes a passive, pump-less groundwater recharge and flood- prevention system utilizing a combined vortex–Venturi hydraulic mechanism to generate negative pressure for enhanced infiltration. Stormwater enters an underground cylindrical chamber through tangential inlets, forming a high-velocity vortex over a spiral floor ramp. The rotating flow couples with a centrally positioned Venturi throat, producing localized suction that actively drives water through a perforated recharge interface into the underlying aquifer. The rotational flow maintains suspended sediments in motion, enabling self-cleaning of recharge openings and reducing clogging. Overflow ports regulate chamber water levels during extreme inflow conditions. The system is modular, low-cost, energy-independent, and suitable for deployment in urban, peri-urban, and agricultural environments to mitigate flooding while replenishing groundwater resources efficiently.
