Inventors include Ms Sogy K Idicula; and F Alwin David.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: This project introduces a Passport Verification System with Iris Authentication that enhances identity verification using advanced biometric technology. Traditional passport verification methods suffer from manual delays, security vulnerabilities, and limited biometric integration. To address these challenges, the proposed system utilizes a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to perform accurate iris-based identity verification. The system is developed using React.js for the frontend interface, Spring Boot for backend business logic and secure API handling, and a Python-based CNN model trained on the MMU Iris Dataset. The model achieves over 98% accuracy in recognizing and matching iris patterns. MongoDB is used for flexible data storage, while RESTful APIs and Docker ensure smooth integration and deployment. By supporting biometric-only, document-only, and combined verification modes, the platform provides a secure, fast, and reliable verification process. Overall, the system significantly reduces verification time, prevents unauthorized access, and offers a scalable and efficient solution for modern passport authentication systems. Furthermore, the system is designed for scalability and security using a microservices architecture. Encrypted communication and audit logging ensure safe data handling. Automated verification reduces human involvement while providing transparent and reliable results.
