MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125542 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on October 21, 2026, for Patient Monitoring And Emergency Communication System.

Inventors include Chandramauleshwar Roy; Vinay; Khushi Jain; and Malik Amber.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a patient monitoring and emergency communication system (100). The system (100) includes a processor (102-2) and a memory (102- 4) storing processor-executable instructions. The processor (102-2) receives physiological data signals from one or more wearable sensing units (106) and image data from one or more imaging units (108) associated with a patient. The processor (102-2) pre-processes the received physiological data signals and image data, extracts physiological features and behavioural features, and correlates the extracted physiological features with the extracted behavioural features and predefined reference patterns and physiological threshold values stored in the memory (102-4) to identify validated multimodal distress events. The processor (102-2) determines an emergency severity level for each validated multimodal distress event and detects an emergency event when the determined emergency severity level exceeds a predefined severity threshold, thereby enabling reliable emergency communication through alert notifications while reducing false emergency detections.
