MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611073473 A) filed by Chitkara University on June 12, 2026, for Pediatric Vision Screening Device.
Inventors include Tannu Thakran; Amarbir Singh; and Sai Tirumala Dev Kalicheti.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: A pediatric vision screening device, comprises a housing 101, an IR (infrared) sensitive camera 102 with an array of IR LEDs (light emitting diodes) mounted on the housing 101 and configured to project light into the user’s eye and capture a reflection pattern from the retina, including brightness, shape, and crescent formation, for detecting refractive errors, a display panel 103 installed on the housing 101 and configured to present a sequence of dynamic, child engaging animations designed to naturally capture a pediatric user’s gaze towards the camera 102, maintaining optimal ocular alignment for analysis, and an AI (artificial intelligence) module integrated with a microcontroller embedded in the housing 101 and configured to utilize trained machine learning models for analyzing sensor and imaging data to analyze pupil brightness gradients and crescent patterns, evaluate eye alignment and coordination and generate a quantitative risk score for refractive errors.
