The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a ferulic acid-loaded nanoliposomal thermoresponsive hydrogel, and to a process for the preparation thereof, for sustained and site-specific intra-articular delivery of ferulic acid in the management of osteoarthritis and related joint disorders. The composition comprises nanoliposomes, in which ferulic acid is encapsulated within a phospholipid bilayer formed of a bilayer-forming phospholipid and a membrane- stabilising sterol, dispersed within a thermoresponsive hydrogel base comprising a thermoresponsive gelling polymer and a mucoadhesive and viscoelastic crosslinking agent. The composition remains free-flowing at room or refrigerated temperature and undergoes a sol-to-gel phase transition upon intra-articular injection at physiological temperature, thereby prolonging residence at the site of administration and affording sustained, controlled release of ferulic acid. The invention further provides a process for preparing the said nanoliposomes by an ethanol injection method and for incorporating the same into the thermoresponsive hydrogel base by a cold method, so as to afford a stable, injectable composition suitable for chondroprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory therapy in osteoarthritis and other joint disorders characterised by localised oxidative stress, inflammation and extracellular matrix degradation.
