MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641090945 A) filed by Velammal Institute Of Technology; and Mrs. R. Hemalatha on July 27, 2026, for Photonic Crystal Fiber Sensor For The Detection Of Malarial Disease.

Inventors include Mr. Velati Gowtham; Mr. Mikkili Manoajith; Mr. Sirigiri Vamsi Krishna; and Mrs. R. Hemalatha.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: Presents a single-core photonic crystal fiber (SC-PCF) sensor designed for use in the early detection of blood cancer with an extremely high level of sensitivity. The new sensor consists of a circular silica structure with optimized parameters developed in the terahertz range (1-3 THz) via Finite Element Method analysis. The new SC-PCF sensor has a sensitivity of 99.833%; excellent birefringence; ultra-low confinement loss; and, importantly, the new sensor can detect extremely small changes in refractive index to be able to distinguish healthy blood from malignant blood. This new SC-PCF sensor could serve as a viable alternative for invasive regular diagnosis.
