Abstract: ABSTRACT “Plant based, highly absorbent, antimicrobial pad for postpartum use” The present disclosure relates to a plant-based maternity pad to provide superior postpartum care through high absorbency, ergonomic comfort, and eco-friendly materials. The maternity pad (10) for postpartum use comprises a breathable and biodegradable top layer (101) made of non-woven cotton; an absorbent core (102); a bottom layer (103) composed of biodegradable polylactic acid film derived from corn starch and attached with a release paper (104) with water-based adhesive coating. The absorbent core (102) is made of 8% water soluble, vegan carboxymethyl chitosan blend obtained from organic mushroom infused with carboxymethylated superabsorbent polymer derived from bamboo pulp. This maternity pad integrates a high-performance absorbent core, ensuring exceptional moisture retention, leak protection and environmentally compostable.
