Abstract: The invention relates to a novel plant-based attractant for tephritidae fruit flies, designed to enhance pest control while minimizing environmental impact. This formulation combines 20-50% citronella oil, 5-10% protein hydrolysis, 0.5-1% malathion, and 5-10% yeast, creating an effective bait that attracts fruit flies and provides immediate lethality upon contact. The inclusion of natural ingredients ensures safety for non-target organisms and promotes sustainable agricultural practices. The attractant is housed in a slow-release mechanism using wooden septa, which prolongs its efficacy over time. This innovative solution aims to improve crop yield and quality, addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly pest management strategies in agriculture.
