The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plant-mediated silver nanoparticle topical gel composition for localized antimicrobial application. The composition comprises a free hydroalcoholic Rubia cordifolia root extract (0.5–10.0% w/w), plant-mediated silver nanoparticles (0.01–0.50% w/w) synthesized using the Rubia cordifolia extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent, a gel-forming polymer selected from Carbopol 934, Carbopol 940, Carbopol 980 or Carbomer 934P, triethanolamine as a neutralizing agent, glycerin as a humectant, one or more pharmaceutically acceptable preservatives, and purified water. The invention further provides a process comprising hydroalcoholic extraction of Rubia cordifolia roots, green synthesis and purification of silver nanoparticles, incorporation of both washed nanoparticles and free extract into the gel matrix, followed by pH-controlled gel formation to obtain a homogeneous semisolid topical formulation with sustained antimicrobial activity.
