Abstract: The present invention relates to a surgical retractor for use in oral and maxillofacial surgery, facial reconstructive surgery, and facial cosmetic surgical procedures. The retractor comprises a broad, flattened working end having an oval configuration resembling a platypus beak, a tapered transition neck extending from the working end, an elongated handle shaft, and a ring-type handle assembly. The working end is configured to permit retraction and manipulation of multiple facial or cervical tissue planes simultaneously using a push-type retraction mechanism. The atraumatic contour and enlarged surface area of the working end enable uniform distribution of retracting forces while minimizing localized tissue trauma. The ring-type handle assembly facilitates stable one-handed operation, thereby reducing surgeon fatigue and decreasing reliance on multiple surgical assistants. The surgical retractor provides improved exposure of deep surgical planes and enhanced operative efficiency during facial and cervical surgical procedures.
