Abstract: PLC AND MICROCONTROLLER BASED CONVEYOR SYSTEM FOR METAL AND NON-METAL SORTING Abstract of the Invention The invention relates to a PLC and microcontroller based conveyor system for metal and non-metal sorting (100). The system comprises a conveyor belt (101) driven by a motor (103) controlled through a Variable Frequency Drive (104), supplied by an AC source (105). A sensing zone (106) includes an inductive sensor (107) for metal detection and a capacitive sensor (108) for non-metal detection. Sensor outputs are processed by a microcontroller unit (109) and transmitted to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) unit (110) for control execution. An actuator mechanism (111) driven by a NEMA17 stepper motor (112) diverts materials into a metal bin (113) or non-metal bin (114). A Human Machine Interface (116) enables monitoring and control. The system ensures accurate, real-time, energy-efficient, and automated sorting with reduced human intervention and improved industrial safety and productivity.
