MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109568 A) filed by G. L. Bajaj Institute Of Technology And Management on September 12, 2026, for Point-Of-Sale Price-Presentation System With Contextual Demand-Based Pricing.

Inventors include Krishna Kant Yadav; Khushi Srivastava; and Yasha Istwal.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a retail-food pricing and price-presentation system having a point-of-sale terminal with a product-selection input and transaction price register, and an electronic display adjacent to the input. A movable blocking member selectively prevents operation of the input. A pricing engine derives a demand-response model from timestamped transaction records and contextual calendar data, evaluates candidate prices, and selects a candidate price according to predicted sales volume and profitability. During writing of the selected price to the transaction price register and electronic display, an update actuator places the blocking member in a blocked position. After matching update confirmations are received, the actuator moves the blocking member to an unblocked position, permitting a subsequent product selection at the displayed price.
