Abstract: Lateritic soil is commonly available in tropical regions but exhibits poor engineering properties such as low strength, high plasticity, and high moisture sensitivity, which restrict its use in pavement construction. Conventional cement stabilization improves strength but increases brittleness and carbon emissions. To address these limitations, this project focuses on the development of a hybrid polymer stabilizer using tamarind seed starch (natural polymer), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) latex. The individual polymers were prepared in the laboratory and combined to form a hybrid polymer solution, which was mixed with soil in controlled proportions. The stabilized soil was evaluated through characterization techniques such as FTIR, XRD, SEM, and basic strength related tests. The hybrid polymer is expected to improve soil bonding, flexibility, and moisture resistance while reducing cement dependency. This eco-friendly and cost-effective approach provides a sustainable alternative for pavement subgrade applications in developing regions
