Abstract: A portable autonomous presence-triggered pre-referral apparatus comprising an enclosure, a processing module, a presence-detection module, an audio output module, a microphone module, a manual response-input module comprising affirmative and negative controls, a speech-processing unit, a configurable evaluation engine, a printer module, and a power subsystem having separate regulated power supply circuits for the processing module and the printer module. Upon detection of a person within a predefined interaction zone, the processing module automatically initiates an interaction session, delivers a sequence of audio prompts in one or more languages, acquires responses through verbal and/or manual inputs, evaluates the acquired responses using the configurable evaluation engine against predefined criteria stored in memory, and activates the printer module to generate printed pre-referral output when evaluation criteria are satisfied. The processing module autonomously manages session initiation, prompt repetition on non-response, session termination on abandonment, and automatic reset to standby state without human supervision. The apparatus is suited for deployment in hospital outpatient departments, primary health centres, and community healthcare settings.
