Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: PORTABLE CAPACITIVE SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING ETHANOL CONCENTRATION IN FUEL BLENDS A portable ethanol concentration estimation system for petrol ethanol fuel blends comprises a capacitive sensing cell (1), a frequency conversion circuit (2), a processing unit (3), a temperature sensing unit (4), a display unit (5), a calibration memory (7) and a portable enclosure (8). The capacitive sensing cell (1) detects dielectric property variation of the fuel sample as ethanol concentration changes. The frequency conversion circuit (2) converts capacitance variation into a measurable frequency signal. The processing unit (3) determines the frequency and applies stored calibration data with temperature compensation based on the temperature sensing unit (4). The estimated ethanol concentration, frequency and fuel temperature are presented through the display unit (5). The system provides a portable integrated arrangement for rapid field-level screening of ethanol concentration in fuel blends. Figure - 1
