Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable multi-parameter device and method for rapid field assessment of earthquake-induced soil liquefaction susceptibility. The device is designed to provide preliminary liquefaction screening by integrating multiple soil characterization parameters into a single portable system suitable for field deployment. The invention comprises a probe assembly 106 configured for insertion into soil, a moisture sensing unit 123, a temperature sensing unit 124, a pore pressure parameter 125, a vibration excitation mechanism 129, a dynamic response measurement unit 126, a penetration resistance measurement unit 127, a processing unit 121, and a prediction module 122. During operation, the device acquires in situ soil parameters including penetration resistance, moisture content, saturation condition, temperature, pore pressure, and dynamic vibration response characteristics. The collected data are processed using analytical algorithms, empirical correlations, and/or artificial intelligence-based prediction models to estimate liquefaction susceptibility. The generated results are displayed in the form of qualitative risk categorization as safe, moderate, and high-risk. The device further includes a communication module 130 for data transfer and geographic positioning capabilities 128 for hazard mapping applications. The invention provides a low-cost, portable, and rapid alternative for preliminary liquefaction assessment, reducing dependence on extensive borehole investigations and laboratory testing. The device is particularly suitable for use in highways, bridges, railways, embankments, dams, urban infrastructure projects, disaster management operations, and seismic hazard assessment programs where rapid field-level evaluation of liquefaction potential is required.
