Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a portable quenching safety apparatus (100) and an associated method for controlled quenching of heated workpieces, localized management of quenchant vapour and ignition conditions, detection of a quenching event, and protection of an operator during immersion of the heated workpiece in a quenchant medium. The portable quenching safety apparatus (100) comprises an elongated body (102), plurality of adjustable jaws (104), a quenchant delivery circuit (110), an annular distribution ring (114), plurality of shield segments (120), a profile cam (122), and a control unit (130). The proposed portable quenching safety apparatus (100) is reusable, retrofit-compatible, and operable with existing workshop and industrial quenching installations without requiring substantial infrastructure modification. The proposed portable quenching safety apparatus (100) is capable of coordinating quenchant delivery, inert-gas discharge, and protective-shield deployment during the quenching operation.
