Abstract: A power transmission system for a four-wheel-drive vehicle, comprises a gearbox housing containing a primary reduction gear train configured to receive torque from an engine input shaft, a transfer case housing configured to distribute torque to a front output shaft and a rear output shaft, a single common idler shaft 101 configured to mechanically transmit torque and structurally synchronize alignment between the gearbox housing and the transfer case housing, a sealing arrangement 201 including a rotary shaft seal and a labyrinth seal configured to prevent lubricant migration, a bevel gear assembly 202 comprising a bevel pinion and bevel gear configured to redirect torque at approximately 90 degrees to the front output shaft, a selectively engageable dog clutch comprising an axially sliding collar configured for clutchless four-wheel-drive activation and an in-board braking assembly 202 comprising a brake rotor 102 and caliper 103 configured to provide braking.
