Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: Preparation of Bimetallic Iron-Copper Organic Framework for Diclofenac Removal and Process Thereof A bimetallic organic framework and process thereof is provided for efficient removal of pharmaceutical contaminants from aqueous systems. A bimetallic iron-copper MIL-100 framework is prepared via a simple, green, room-temperature, acid-free in-situ wet-chemical synthesis using sodium hydroxide, without employing high-temperatures, corrosive mineral acids, or organic solvents. The controlled incorporation of copper into iron-based MIL-100 framework enhances active-site diversity and synergistic metal-pollutant interactions, resulting in superior adsorption performance. The prepared Fe-Cu MIL-100 exhibits rapid adsorption kinetics, achieving effective diclofenac removal (96.89-98.19%) within 15 minutes, and demonstrates a high adsorption capacity of approximately 634-714 mg/g under ambient conditions. The framework is water-stable, regenerable, and reusable over multiple adsorption cycles, making it suitable for practical and industrial pharmaceutical wastewater treatment applications. The environmentally benign synthesis route, use of earth-abundant metals, and high adsorption efficiency render the present invention an energy-efficient, scalable, and sustainable alternative to complex multi-component adsorbents reported in the prior art.
