The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: “PREPARATION OF CALCIUM OXIDE FLOWER-LIKE MICROPARTICLES FROM EGGSHELLS AND FABRICATION OF CaOFM-COATED HEMOSTATIC NEEDLE” Disclosed herein is a method for synthesizing a CaOFM-coated hemostatic needle (102) from eggshells (104) collected from domestic and commercial waste sources, which are processed to obtain an eggshell powder (106), which is dispersed in a dilute hydrochloric acid solution (108) and centrifuged to obtain a calcium-rich supernatant (110). A calcium precipitate (114) is obtained by sodium hydroxide addition, washed to remove ionic impurities, and dried to obtain a calcination precursor (116). The calcination precursor (116) is calcined in a muffle furnace under conditions optimised by a Box–Behnken design of response surface methodology to obtain calcium oxide flower-like microparticles (118) with a rosette microarchitecture comprising nano-petals with internal voids. The optimised calcium oxide flower-like microparticles (118) are coated onto a sterilised surgical needle (120) by immersive drying in a buffered crosslinker solution (122) to obtain the CaOFM-coated hemostatic needle (102) with demonstrated in vitro and in vivo haemostatic activity.
