Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of probiotic formulations specifically designed to treat intestinal permeability disorders, commonly known as "leaky gut syndrome." The invention comprises a probiotic formulation that includes a plurality of isolated lactobacilli strains, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, combined with a prebiotic component like inulin or fructooligosaccharides. These lactobacilli strains are characterized by their ability to modulate gut permeability, strengthen tight junctions between epithelial cells, reduce inflammation, and promote mucin production. The prebiotic component is configured to enhance the growth and activity of the lactobacilli strains in the gastrointestinal tract. The formulation may also include bioactive molecules produced by the lactobacilli strains, which aid in the colonization of beneficial bacteria and have immunomodulatory effects. The invention includes a method to prepare a probiotic formulation by isolating, characterizing lactobacilli strains from fermented foods and gut samples, and standardizing for consistent efficacy.
