Abstract: TITLE: PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF OXIDATION-RESISTANT SILVER NANOPARTICLES A facile and environmentally friendly method has been proposed for synthesizing oxidation-resistant silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) under ambient conditions in the present invention. The process involves preparing an tartaric acid solution, which is combined with an aqueous silver nitrate to form a silver–tartrate complex. Magnesium scrap is introduced as a sacrificial reductant to reduce silver ions to metallic silver via a galvanic displacement reaction, and ultrasonic agitation is applied to enhance nucleation, dispersion, and uniformity of nanoparticles. The resulting nanoparticles are filtered, washed, and oven-dried to yield a reddish-brown powder with an average particle size of 20–50 nm and narrow size distribution. Tartaric acid serves as a complexing and capping agent, providing colloidal stability, oxidation resistance, and compatibility with various matrices. The synthesized Ag NPs exhibit high crystallinity, retain metallic properties over extended periods, and demonstrate versatile applications in antimicrobial, catalytic, photocatalytic, electronic, energy storage, water purification, and biomedical fields.
