MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641070322 A) filed by Jubin J Kurichiyil; Antony N P; and Varsha Paul on June 05, 2026, for Process For Producing Fermented Carbon-Rich Biofertilizer From Rice Husk Ash-Derived Activated Carbon And Agro-Industrial Waste Using Microbial Consortia.

Inventors include Jubin J Kurichiyil; Antony N P; and Varsha Paul.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a sustainable process for producing a fermented carbon-rich biofertilizer derived from rice husk ash-based activated carbon and agro- industrial wastes. The method involves alkaline activation of rice husk ash to obtain soluble carbon fractions, followed by aerobic fermentation using cooked rice water, sugarcane residues, and a defined microbial consortium. Lactobacillus species convert rice-derived nutrients into bioactive metabolites, while silica-solubilizing bacteria transform ash-bound silica into plant-available silicic acid. Fish amino acids are incorporated to enhance nutrient density and microbial activity. The resulting formulation provides a balanced carbon-to-nitrogen profile, functions as a bio stimulant, and significantly reduces dependence on costly synthetic polycarbon fertilizers while enabling effective waste recycling.
