MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611059770 A) filed by Guru Jambheshwar University Of Science & Technology; and Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Of Science And Technology on May 11, 2026, for Process For Synthesis Of Iron Oxide–mxene Nanocomposite For Gas Sensing Applications.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for synthesis of 5wt% FE2O3/MXENE Nanocomposite. 5FMX nanocomposite was prepared by the following procedure which involves preparation of MXene solution after stirring of 24 hours. Appropriate amount of Ferric Nitrate Nonahydrate based on 5 wt. percentages of iron oxide were dissolved separately in a ratio of 2 g/mL of DI and stirred till a homogeneous solution is obtained. A 2M solution was prepared by NaOH pellets and added in to this solution till basic pH of about 14 reaches. Then, this solution was added drop by drop in MXene solution followed by stirring of 6 hours. The resulting solution was washed and centrifuged until pH of 7 reaches followed by ultrasonication for half hour. Then the obtained precipitates were vacuum freeze dried and calcined at 400oC. The resulting powered sample was named and used throughout the text as 5FMX.
