MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411098539 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research on December 10, 2024, for Process For The Preparation Of Magnetite Nanoparticles From Mill Scale For Printing.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of magnetite nanoparticles from metallurgical iron containing waste. This invention utilizes mill scale- metallurgical iron waste from the steel sector consisting of iron oxides and trace amounts of iron, to produce magnetite nanoparticles. The obtained magnetite nanoparticles were mixed with a binder resin, charge-controlling agent, separating agent and dye to produce toner. The printing of the produced toner powder from magnetite nanoparticles was evaluated for the image quality, black density and smudge resistance and was found to be at par with that of commercial toner.
