Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for treating calibrated lump iron ore (CLO) to reduce surface impurities, such as alumina and silica, and increase iron. The process involves feeding CLO with a particle size range of 10 mm to 40 mm into a washing unit, where high-pressure water jets (up to 140 bar) dislodge surface impurities while the ore is agitated. The washed ore is then screened into oversized and undersized fractions, with the oversized fraction exhibiting improved iron content and reduced impurities. The undersized fraction may be further processed in a thickener to recover water and produce a dense slurry.
