The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The ancient Siddha system of medicine, one of the oldest medical traditions in India, emphasizes the diagnosis and treatment of ailments through the balance of three vital humors: Vatham (Gastric/Air), Pitham (Bile/Fire), and Kabam (Mucus/Water). Pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha) is a cornerstone of Siddha practice, enabling practitioners to assess the state of these humors through subtle variations in the pulse. This project proposes the development of a Pulse Reader device integrated with modem sensor technology and data analytics to assist in the non-invasive diagnosis of humoral imbalances in line with Siddha principles. By analyzing pulse waveforms through sensors placed on the wrist, the system can detect patterns corresponding to the dominance or deficiency of Vatham, Pitham, and Kabam. The collected data is processed using signal processing algorithms and interpreted through an Al model trained on expert-annotated datasets. The goal is to bridge traditional diagnostic wisdom with contemporary technology, enabling wider accessibility, standardization, and accuracy in Siddha diagnosis. The Pulse Reader has potential applications in early disease detection, personalized treatment plans, and the integration of Siddha medicine into modem wellness systems.
