MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411103980 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on December 28, 2024, for Quality By Design Development Of Snedds For Fisetin And Hesperidin Bioavailability.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Self-Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS) designed to enhance the bioavailability of fisetin and hesperidin, which are active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The SNEDDS comprises a combination of oils, including medium-chain triglycerides, to form an oil phase that solubilizes the APIs, along with surfactants such as Tween 80 to reduce interfacial tension, and co-surfactants like polyethylene glycol to stabilize the nanoemulsion. Upon contact with aqueous media, the SNEDDS spontaneously forms an oil-in-water nanoemulsion with a particle size of less than 200 nm. Developed using a Quality by Design (QbD) approach, the system optimizes critical quality attributes (CQAs) such as particle size, drug release, stability, and bioavailability. The invention also includes a method for preparing the SNEDDS, involving solubilization of the APIs, mixing of surfactants and co-surfactants, and high-shear mixing to form a nanoemulsion, which is further evaluated for CQAs.
