Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for physical-layer provenance authentication of satellite navigation signals. The apparatus comprises a laser-interrogated alkali vapour cell configured to quantum-electrometrically measure electromagnetic field characteristics of a received navigation signal, including absolute field strength, polarization, and angle-of-arrival. An optical interrogation system generates measurement data from interaction between Rydberg atoms and the incident radio-frequency field. A processor compares the measured field characteristics with a physical admissibility envelope derived from broadcast ephemeris and corresponding satellite orbital geometry. Based on the comparison, the processor generates a provenance verdict indicating physical consistency or inconsistency of the received signal with an expected satellite source. Upon detection of a provenance violation, a hardware radio-frequency switch physically isolates the navigation receiver from the antenna feed-line. A chip-scale atomic clock provides an independent timing reference during isolation, while feed-line monitoring verifies the switching action, therebyproviding an integrated sensor-to-decision-to-enforcement architecture for satellite navigation signal security.
