MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611069440 A) filed by Sharda University on June 03, 2026, for Rail Wind Energy Recovery System.

Inventors include Dr Himanshu Payal; Rohunsingh Soobarah; and Meh Napoelion Fuh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a rail wind energy recovery system comprising a rail corridor support structure fixed beside a railway track, track-side turbine assemblies mounted along the rail corridor support structure, a spacing calculation unit, a placement mapping unit, an energy modelling unit, and an output interface. Each track-side turbine assembly comprises a turbine shaft, swept-back turbine blades, and a generator. The spacing calculation unit calculates inter-turbine spacing between consecutive turbine assemblies based on train speed, vehicle mass, carriage count, and corridor cross-sectional geometry. The placement mapping unit generates a turbine placement map according to the calculated spacing. The energy modelling unit calculates track-side wind energy output and combines the track-side wind energy output with rooftop solar energy output and regenerative braking energy output. The output interface provides a total energy recovery estimate relative to baseline station energy consumption. Fig. 1 Dated May 31, 2026 / Kumar Tushar Srivastava IN/PA-3973 Agent for the Applicant
