MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611070714 A) filed by Jecrc University on June 06, 2026, for Reagent Composition For Visualization Of Latent Fingerprints And Method For Preparation Thereof.
Inventors include Vaishnavi Hitendra Thakre; and Dr. Sonali Pandey.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to composition and method for visualizing latent fingerprints using baker’s yeast (saccharomyces cerevisiae) based fluorescent. A Saccharomyces cerevisiae based formulation is designed for the rapid, on- site latent fingerprint visualization. This green reagent incorporates biocompatible, naturally derived Saccharomyces cerevisiae extracted from baker’s dry yeast as the active visualizing component, eliminating the use of hazardous chemical developers. The reagent paired with curcumin dye naturally derived from crude turmeric powder offers strong fluorescence under UV illumination, high ridge detail clarity, and compatibility with diverse porous and non-porous surfaces. The formulation is non-toxic, cost-effective, and environmentally safe, enabling safer handling for forensic personnel and reducing ecological impact. The invention provides a quick, portable, field-applicable solution enhancing forensic efficiency while supporting the principles of green forensic science.
