Abstract: The present invention relates to a real-time accident detection and emergency response system for intelligent transportation applications. The system integrates existing CCTV infrastructure with vehicle-mounted edge devices to automatically detect road accidents in surveillance-enabled and non-surveillance environments. A multi- sensor fusion mechanism combines visual, GPS (214), accelerometer, and gyroscope data to improve detection reliability and reduce false detections. The system performs intelligent accident severity assessment using vehicle motion and collision characteristics, generates AI-based human-readable accident summaries, and merges reports from multiple sources through an event fusion mechanism to eliminate duplicate notifications. Based on the assessed severity, the system automatically routes alerts to appropriate emergency services for coordinated emergency response. The proposed system reduces emergency response time, improves emergency resource utilization, and enhances road safety through intelligent and automated accident management.
