Inventors include Nikita Jaykumar Gadekar; Sanika Sarang Patankar; Jayant Venkatrao Kulkarni; Tanavi Dilip Donewar; Onkar Adinath Ekatpure; and Vivek Arun Doifode.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a real-time embedded overspeed alert system that employs dual ESP32-CAM microcontrollers operating in a master-slave configuration for simultaneous road speed sign recognition and analog speedometer reading. The system utilizes lightweight, quantized Mobile-VNet image classification models trained on the Edge Impulse platform and deployed entirely on-device, enabling deterministic real-time . inference without reliance on cloud connectivity or external network infrastructure. The road sign recognition model achieves 88,9% validation accuracy and the speedometer reading model achieves 76.0% validation accuracy. Inter-module communication is accomplished via UART serial protocol. When vehicle speed is found to exceed the recognized road speed limit, the system immediately alerts the driver through a buzzer and a 16×2 LCD display showing both speed values. This invention offers a low-cost, portable, offline-capable, and scalable solution for enhancing driver awareness and enforcing speed compliance, with strong potential for integration into semi-autonomous vehicle platforms and intelligent transportation systems.
